…Once upon a time, I had a serious bout of low self-esteem. I never saw myself as beautiful, and when people say it, I always think, ‘they are just being kind’. I have no idea why that was the case, because my parents were very generous with beautiful compliments. Well, I’m grateful that God helped to renew my mind, and my sight. Grateful for His love. Through His word, I saw thoughts that I had told myself over the years, get debunked.
The way God sees and thinks is so different from how we see or think, and it’s important that we see and think like He does. I can imagine Gideon of old who wore fear as a cloak. He was fearful, but in that fear, God saw a mighty warrior, and the first time God spoke to Him, God called him just that- ‘A Mighty warrior’ (Judges 6).
Many were born with a huge sense of high self-worth, but others, not so much, and so it’s important that every day, we keep reminding ourselves of how God sees us…of our worth.
Knowing our worth and identity is so important. It helps us walk shoulder high with our chin up. It’s help to crash the lies of comparison and gives us room and joy to do all that God wants us to do. Living out our purpose in joy and courage can change our sphere and help others do the same too.
It’s very important that we teach this to the younger generation and our children.
Whether we are faceless or famous, a lack of worth cripples us, but getting our value or worth from Jehovah, helps us to live a real, beautiful and full life.
And remember, it’s not enough to know who we are, but let’s walk like it…in humility and in love!
