I love fashion trends.

I love great sun glasses and hats.

I love jumpsuits and flowery gowns.

Looking good is great business.

These a few of my favorite things.

….Lately though, I’m learning that while it’s great to look awesome on the outside. Our outside count for nothing if our ‘inner man’ isn’t being groomed too.

Like they say, ‘Beauty can get you the attention, but character is what keeps you’.

And so, what is your character like? What are you wearing? What is your aroma like?

One day, after having a ‘spat’ with one of my best friend, and was literally praying to God for help with reconciliation and peace (because I felt so offended, and the anger literally clung on my skin)…The Holy Spirit reminded of Colossians 3:12-14. It reads ‘So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.’

My best friend is still my best friend. Thank God for reconciliation. And that verse is one of those that has not left my heart.

As I dress up each day…I tell myself, ‘Now, clothe yourself in love, compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline and forgiveness. Don’t go out naked, spiritually’.

Can I be honest? There are days when it feels like I have forgotten my spiritual attire at home….Days when I walk out naked. Day when people hurt me and my first action is nowhere near what Colossians 3 says.

But, thank God for grace and mercy and new chances.

Remember, we are new creatures because of what Christ has done for us.

Colossians 3: 3-11 says, ‘Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. And that means killing off everything connected with that way of death: sexual promiscuity, impurity, lust, doing whatever you feel like whenever you feel like it, and grabbing whatever attracts your fancy. That’s a life shaped by things and feelings instead of by God. It’s because of this kind of thing that God is about to explode in anger. It wasn’t long ago that you were doing all that stuff and not knowing any better. But you know better now, so make sure it’s all gone for good: bad temper, irritability, meanness, profanity, dirty talk.  Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe.’

And also, like you do with your dresses…check you spiritual clothing for wear and tear, stains, etc.

Do you walk in love with everyone or just those who love you? Do you live in anger or in joy? Are you honest or manipulative?

Have your faith dwindled? Do you still love God?

Truth is, we need God’s mercies and wisdom always. We honestly can’t run this spiritual race on our own.

So what are you wearing internally- bad temper, irritability, meanness, profanity, dirty talk, malice, unforgiveness, OR, compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline, and love?

I hope you chose the good portion.

There is so much joy in choosing the good portion.

Love & Light!!!! 🙂
