This morning, as Mr. B and I tagged the Personnel Protective Equipment’s with different names, this one thought kept flying in my head, ‘God loves this person too. This person whose face I do not know but whose name I had just written. God loves him or her’.

As I worked, that thought kept burning in my heart. God loves the scruffy scavenger digging for plastics and clothes at the waste site, at that junction. God loves the Keke driver from this morning. He loves my new little sister and friend, Isioma. He loves my old friends. God loves my mama, my sisters and extended family. He also loves my Christian family. God loves Benedicta*, the prostitute that lives 3 houses down my street. He loves Benedicta. Even Benedicta.

I can’t help but think of Hosea and Gomer in the Bible. God asked this great Prophet to marry a prostitute. And then, God asked Hosea to take Gomer back, even after she cheated on Him.

The woman caught cheating, in the bible, deserved to die, right? She just committed the worst crime on earth. They brought her before Jesus. The verdict was….not death. It was grace. Jesus said, ‘I do not condemn you. Go and sin, No more’.

….A part of me is still learning this love thing. Can I ever understand God’s kind of love?

One day, my friend and I were talking about Gods love and he described it to me like this: “Imagine that the weather is cold. Really cold.  But you feel warmth coming from the fire place. Would you go towards the fire or would you stay away from it?

God’s love is like that fire. Ever burning. Ever warm. Ever inviting.  But it’s up to us to accept His invite, to sit by Him. Most times, we feel that we are too dirty to sit with God, and so, we run. Rather than sit by the warmth of His love, we choose to sit in the cold darkness. Believing the lie that His love is not us. Believing that we are too dirty and unwanted for His club. Believing that we are uninvited”.

I don’t think I will ever forget that analogy. And it makes me so sad that we believe the enemies lie, that God hates us, and we’ll never be good enough for God.

You know, the devil tells us partial truth. He doesn’t tell us the full truth. We’ll never be good enough for God. God is Holy and our sin separates us from Him. We’ve all sinned and fallen short of Gods glory. God hates looking at sin, and doesn’t condone our wrong doing. But, God…God in His love, sent King Jesus, His only son to come and die for us. Jesus died for me, for the scavenger down the street, for the prisoner sitting in the 6 feet cell, for my beautiful grandma, and for Benedicta too. Because of Jesus, we are loved with an everlasting kind of love. A love that is ever burning, warm and still inviting. God’s love changes our lives. It takes us from darkness to light. God’s love keeps us alive…even after our life ends. His love is unconditional, but it’s up to us to accept Jesus and His love.

It’s one thing for God to love us…It’s our choice to accept His love. I pray I daily choose His love. I pray we choose the good portion.

God is just. Jehovah God is also merciful and faithful.

I try so hard to live so right. I know that when I commit my ‘little sins’, God forgives me. I confess that I sneer at those who commits ‘big sins’, and the logical part of me still baffles at the truth that when real repentance comes and forgiveness is sourced for, God gives so freely.

…but Father, the first son asked…how can you love this prodigal son of yours? How can you throw a party for him?’ – Luke 15

God’s love is something I wish to comprehend.

God loves both the elite Christian group, and He is so excited when the prodigal returns home. God loves u all.

Every day, this is my prayer…To never forget that I am loved so much (He daily mends my brokenness), and my Heavenly Father delights in me, and because of that love, I should love everyone I see, every single person (every single person) and share that love with them.

I’m learning that I may never fully comprehend the depth of God’s love. His ways and thoughts are so higher than mine. But if loving everyone genuinely and sharing the message of love (without being hypocritical) is what God says I should do and live by, then I’ll gladly do it.

I pray we love and choose His love, because the Father really does love us, and He wants all of us in His fold.

“Out of love, I received.

Out of love, I will give”

Bible Reading:

  • Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. (1 Timothy 1:15-16)
  • But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)
  • And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.- Ephesians 3:18
  • The whole of 1st John 3 (Powerful Chapter on Love)

I often remember that Jehovah personally loves each one when I see a madman. If Jehovah loves so indiscriminately, why should we his beloved children do any less
